Incubus: Morning View

It’s that time again! It’s time to review another outstanding album that will forever be acknowledged among one of my top favorites of all time. This album review will be on Incubus: Morning View!

Morning View was released on October 23, 2001 and it’s their fourth studio album. From top to bottom, the soundtrack list is quite impressive. You have great songs such as Circles, Have You Ever, Nice to Know You, Echo, Wish You Were Here, etc. Each song has that peaceful vibe to it in my honest opinion, including the heavy tracks as well. This is definitely the one album I reccomend where you wanna just chill and listen to a single album alone on your down time. I honestly don’t have a single song on this album that I dislike. Each song is either good or great, nothing else!

I will handpick two songs on this album that are my absolute favorites and they are Echo and Circles. Echo has to be the softest song on the album and I mean that in a good way. Everything from bass to the background noise is nothing but peace. My favorite lyric from this song in particular is, “My biggest fear will be the rescue of me,” simply because it kinda speaks to the viewers as once they feel “rescued” then their lives will start to change in the blink of an eye. I also love the soft vocals of Brandon Boyd in this song. He sings so calmly and very soft spoken and that’s basically how the song goes, so his vocal style fits very well with this particular song. Now my other favorite song is Circles. This song’s a little heavier than Echo but like Echo, it provides peace to me. This song does have a typical rock sound but that’s not all that bad to me. My absolute FAVORITE part of the song is the breakdown near the end where suddenly they go from rock to a settled soft sound that is just too hard to describe with words. I mean seriously if you haven’t heard this song before, stop what you’re doing and go check it out! Especially to hear that soft breakdown it’s really incredible. I can’t help but replay that specific part every time I listen to that song and trust me I never get tired of it.

This album became the band’s highest selling album by going double-platinum. It debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and sold about 266,000 copies in its first week. That’s pretty damn impressive! If that wasn’t enough, it later became the 40th best selling album of 2002! Not a lot of bands can say they’ve been in the top 50 when it comes to album sales. That’s an accomplishment that will be cherished on for many, many years even still to this day.

There’s barely any criticism that I have to say about this album. The only minor problem I have with this album is the same minor problem I have with the Stone Temple Pilots’ No.4 album, and it’s the album cover. I just wish there was more creativity with the cover, but at the same time the album’s called “Morning View” and the cover looks like an morning view of the ocean hahaha.

This album easily gets a 10/10 rating for me. Easily a 5 star album. It’s just simply awesome! Incubus is a great band and their fourth studio album is by far their best album of all time in my opinion. Definitely give this album a listen if you haven’t already. I HIGHLY recommend it.
